Overall Recreation Experience
Every quarter, the City of Olathe has survey company ETC Institute conduct a statistically valid satisfaction survey of randomly selected Olathe residents. Approximately 500 survey responses are collected each quarter, and this is well above the 300 responses approximately needed for statistical validity on a population the size of Olathe.
Citizen satisfaction with the overall recreation experience combines average citizen satisfaction ratings of youth and adult athletic programs, senior recreation opportunities, and special events offered by the Olathe Parks & Recreation Department. This measure helps to ensure consistency in offering comprehensive, quality recreational and educational programming that satisfies the needs of varying age levels, physical abilities and special interests.
The overall recreation experience combines average citizen satisfaction ratings with youth and adult athletic programs, senior recreation opportunities, and special events. The target is 78% based on the 3 year average.
In 2017, satisfaction with youth and adult athletic programs, senior recreation opportunities, and special events averaged at 76.25%. Satisfaction was generally consistent across all categories with the exception of senior recreation opportunities, which declined in 2017, bringing the overall rating for this category down. However, internal surveys conducted by the department in 2017 indicate that 98% are satisfied or highly satisfied with the Active Ager's Program.
