Citizen Satisfaction with the Overall Quality of Parks & Recreation Programs and Facilities (Q1b) (Council Key Result Indicator #8)
Every quarter, the City of Olathe has survey company ETC Institute conduct a statistically valid satisfaction survey of randomly selected Olathe residents. Approximately 500 survey responses are collected each quarter, and this is well above the 300 responses approximately needed for statistical validity on a population the size of Olathe.
The Olathe Parks & Recreation Department continually evaluates the needs of the community and works to provide parks, facilities, and recreation programs that improve the quality of life in Olathe. This question determines the overall level of satisfaction citizens have for the quality of City Parks & Recreation programs and facilities. Providing quality recreation programs and facilities helps cultivate community and supports active and healthy lifestyles.
The target is set at 88% based on historical data, and has been increased by 1-2 percentage points each year. The target remains above the National average actuals.
Satisfaction with the overall quality of Parks & Recreation programs and facilities continues to remain consistently above target in 1Q 2018. In 2017, Olathe Parks & Recreation scored 22% higher than the KC metro and 28% higher than the National average for overall satisfaction. The department showed high levels of satisfaction in many categories, such as the maintenance and number of city parks, the maintenance and number of walking and biking trails, outdoor athletic fields, special events, and quality of indoor recreation facilities.
