Why Is This Important?

Neighborhoods are the backbone of our community. The Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative (HNI) has been created to identify neighborhoods that are in need of assistance and provide the necessary tools and resources to improve residents' quality of life.

Measure Description

The Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative (HNI) Condition Index is tracked biennially and composed of four (4) Key Indicators based on Poverty, Property Maintenance, Home Ownership, and Crime. These Key Indicators generate an overall Composite Score for each neighborhood which then categorizes each neighborhood into one of three strategy areas: (1) Revitalization,  (2) Stabilization or (3) Sustainable--generally our most healthy neighborhoods.  Strategy areas assist staff with aligning resources and improvement projects where they are most appropriate.
